Marathon man charged with stabbing

A Marathon man was arrested last Thursday, charged with stabbing another man last Sunday in the early morning hours.

According to the victim and two witnesses who were with him, 34 year old Yandri Lopez Macaya stabbed the victim twice, in the abdomen and side, with a knife. The two men and the witnesses had been walking down Ocean Terrace just before 6 a.m. Lopez Macaya and the victim reportedly got into an argument which escalated to a physical fight.

The victim said as he was fighting with the suspect, Lopez Macaya hit him twice, then said “I just stuck you”. When the victim pulled up his shirt, he saw he was bleeding heavily from two stab wounds.

The suspect then fled on foot.

After interviewing all those present during the altercation, Deputy Bobby Burkett obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect. On Thursday, Lopez Macaya was arrested and charged with aggravated battery. He was booked into jail.
