Stock Island man charged with home invasion robbery
A Stock Island man is in jail attempting to rob another man, and hitting him in the head repeatedly.
Deputies responded to 6500 Maloney Avenue, #52B at 1:20 a.m. last Thursday to reports of a disturbance involving a person with a gun. When Sgt. Evan Calhoun arrived, he knocked on the door of the residence and 18 year old Ernest Douby answered the door with a gun in his hand. He was ordered to drop the gun, which turned out to be a realistic looking airsoft pistol. As he was being detained, he was yelling about someone named “Orlando” who owed him $1,000.
Deputies Andrew Hudson and Donald Stulken arrived as back up. The officers went inside and found the victim lying on his bed, bleeding from injuries to his head. Further investigation revealed he’d been struck in the head with the pistol several times. The victim said Douby was the one who hit him. He said he thinks Douby may have been after several money orders he has in his house.
A check on Douby’s name revealed a warrant for failure to comply with drug court requirements. He was charged with the warrant, and with home invasion robbery and battery. He was booked into jail.
