Man arrested for stealing from Animal Shelter
A man has been arrested for breaking in to the animal shelter on Stock Island and stealing a donation jar with $50 inside.
48 year old Lynn Thomas broke a window to gain access to the building overnight between April 12 and the 13. He cut himself on the broken window glass, leaving behind DNA in the form of blood. Analysis of the blood identified it as belonging to Thomas.
Detective David Brummer, who investigated the case, called authorities in Linn County, Iowa where Thomas had been arrested before. Sheriff’s detectives there told Detective Brummer Thomas had been arrested in their jurisdiction for breaking in to a church and an animal hospital.
A warrant was obtained for Thomas and last Wednesday, he was charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief. He was booked into jail.
