Call leads to Big PIne drug arrest

Derrick Lajeunesse, 28, from Big Pine Key was arrested on July 10 outside the Tom Thumb on Big Pine Key.

Officers were sent to the store for a report of a man selling drugs in front of the store and a pistol in the back of his pants.

Deputy Spenser Bryan and Sergeant Tom Walker approached the man as he was leaving the building and ordered him to the ground. While in handcuffs the officers found the gun that looked real, but turned out to be a BB gun.

deputies searched the area where items were dropped and found a 305 cigarette box that contained individually wrapped white powdery substance, which field tested positive for cocaine and a blunt with marijuana.

Lajeunesse was charged with Marijuana under 20 grams, tampering with evidence, possession of a controlled substance without prescription, and possession of cocaine with intent to sell.
