Man charged with aggravated battery
A Summerland Key man stabbed a man he works with and is roommates with early last Saturday. He was later arrested for attempting to break the window of a car with a rock and was charged with the aggravated battery as well.
Deputy Scott Ward responded to West Indies Drive on Summerland Key to reports a man was walking down the road bleeding. He found the victim, who had a gash on his cheek. He was bleeding profusely. He told the deputy “Rolando” stabbed him. Further investigation revealed “Rolando” is a man the victim works with and rooms with on St. Vincent Street on Summerland Key. The victim was transported to Fishermen’s Hospital for treatment of his injury.
Several hours later, deputies responded to reports a man was caught trying to break the window of a car parked at Pine Channel Bridge.
The victim said he saw a man later identified as 20 year old Rolando Ailon hitting his vehicle’s window with a rock. The victim activated his car alarm in an effort to stop the attack on his vehicle; Ailon then ran with the victim pursuing him.
The victim held Ailon at the scene until officers arrived. He was placed under arrest for criminal mischief, having caused an estimated $2,500.00 damage to the car. Once deputies determined he was the same man they were looking for in connection with the stabbing, he was additionally charged with aggravated battery. He was booked into jail.
